Description

Our client is a leading apparel company based in downtown Los Angeles, CA. They design, manufacture, and distribute high-quality clothing. They are seeking a seasoned Controller to oversee our finance and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial management and a passion for the apparel industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with senior management, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and performance reporting, identifying key drivers of financial results and presenting findings to executive leadership.

  • Cash Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity, including monitoring bank balances, forecasting cash needs, and optimizing working capital.

  • Cost Accounting: Oversee product costing and inventory valuation, analyzing cost variances and implementing cost-saving initiatives to improve profitability.

  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax returns and compliance with tax laws and regulations.

  • Financial Systems: Evaluate and implement financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and support business growth.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

  • Audit Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, facilitating the annual audit process and addressing any audit inquiries or requests.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred); CPA certification (preferred).

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

  • Experience in the apparel industry or related manufacturing environment (preferred).

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and a commitment to meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
